Termite Inspections: What to Look For in Mount Lawley
G’day folks, Glenn Mott from Mount Lawley Pest Control here. Termites are silent destroyers, often causing significant damage before they’re even noticed. Regular inspections are crucial to detect infestations early and prevent costly repairs.
Here’s what to look for:
- Mud Tubes: These are thin, mud-like tubes built by termites to travel from their nest to food sources. Look for them on walls, foundations, and around pipes.
- Swarmers: Seeing winged termites (alates) swarming around your property is a strong indicator of an active infestation.
- Hollow-sounding Wood: Tap on wooden structures. A hollow sound may indicate that termites have eaten away the interior.
- Discarded Wings: You may find discarded wings of swarmed termites near windows, doors, or on surfaces.
- Frass: Termite droppings, which resemble small pellets, may be found near termite nests or feeding areas.
- Blistering Paint or Wallpaper: This can be a sign of termite activity behind the walls.
- Sagging Floors or Ceilings: Termite damage can weaken structural timbers, leading to sagging floors or ceilings.
Important Note:
- Early detection is key: The sooner you detect a termite infestation, the easier and less costly it is to treat.
- Professional Inspections: While these signs can be helpful, it’s always recommended to have a professional termite inspection conducted by a qualified pest control company like Mount Lawley Pest Control.
By being vigilant and conducting regular inspections, you can protect your property from the devastating effects of termites.
