As the owner of Mount Lawley Pest Control, I know our suburb is a fantastic place to live. But sometimes, you need a change of scenery without going too far. Just down the road from us is Leederville, a place that feels a world away with its own unique and vibrant energy.
Leederville is a lively hub that perfectly blends history with a modern, youthful atmosphere. Its origins date back to the late 19th century, and you can still see that history in landmarks like the Leederville Hotel and the iconic Luna Palace Cinema. The cinema, with its retro red facade, is a must-visit for film lovers and is a true cultural institution.
But what truly defines Leederville today is its buzz. The main strip on Oxford Street is an absolute feast for the senses. It’s a culinary melting pot where you can find everything from sophisticated tapas at places like Pinchos to hearty Italian food at Siena’s or Pappagallo. The food scene is incredibly diverse, and
I’m always impressed by the quality and variety on offer.
The café culture is second to none. Grab a coffee at Pixel Coffee Brewers or Foam Coffee Bar and find a spot to people-watch. It’s a great way to soak in the relaxed, inner-city village vibe that Leederville does so well.
Leederville isn’t just about food and drink. It’s a place for entertainment and lifestyle. The Leederville Oval is a historic sporting venue, and the Leederville Skate Park is a popular spot for the local kids. You can also explore a variety of independent boutiques and record stores, giving the area a genuine, creative feel.
While my business keeps me busy in Mount Lawley, I’m grateful to have a place like Leederville so close. It’s a reminder of the rich and diverse character of our inner-city suburbs, and it’s a place that’s definitely worth a visit.
