As the owner of Mount Lawley Pest Control, my work takes me to all kinds of buildings, but few are as impressive as the ones built for large-scale entertainment. The RAC Arena, right in the heart of Perth, is a shining example of modern architecture and a hub for our city’s cultural and sporting life.
Known for its distinctive, jigsaw puzzle-like design, the RAC Arena is a landmark in its own right. It was a major part of the Perth City Link project, which reconnected the CBD and Northbridge, and since its opening in 2012, it has become an integral part of our city’s identity.
The venue is incredibly versatile. One night it’s transformed into “The Jungle,” the electric home court of our beloved Perth Wildcats, and the next, it’s a concert hall hosting some of the world’s biggest musical acts. Over the years, it’s welcomed everyone from Sir Elton John and Bruce Springsteen to Ed Sheeran and Doja Cat. It’s truly a place that brings world-class entertainment right to our doorstep.
In addition to music, the arena is a premier destination for major sporting events. It has hosted sell-out UFC events, the United Cup tennis tournament, and the West Coast Fever netball team. The energy during these events is something you have to experience to believe.
While my business focuses on the smaller details that keep our homes and businesses running smoothly, I’m always impressed by the sheer scale and efficiency of a venue like the RAC Arena. It’s a testament to Perth’s growth as a city and its ability to attract and host large-scale, world-class events. It’s a place that makes our city a better, more vibrant place to live, and I’m proud to have it just a short distance from our Mount Lawley community.
