ou probably don’t know it, but I have been a fan of the West Coast Eagles Football Club for over 30 years now.
My fascination with them started in my early 20’s, when a group of my mates and I would head to Lancelin for the AFL Grand Final and stay for the weekend.
We were in Lancelin in 1992 and 1994, and loved seeing John Worsfold, Guy McKenna and Glen Jackovich.
In 2005 and 2006 we watched Ben Cousins, Chris Judd and Daniel Chick play Sydney, losing in 2005 and winning in 2006.
2018 saw victory ours again, with Elliot Yeo, Jeremy McGovern, Josh Kennedy, Jamie Cripps, Liam Ryan and Dom Sheed bringing home a spectacular come from behind win.
2025 was a terrible year on the field for the club, but glimmers of home were seen during the year. With Harley Reid signing on for 2 more years, we know that 2026, 2027 and 2028 will bring better performance with Harley’s game maturing, and the benefit of top talent at other clubs wanting to sign on with us to play with him.
